The Truck & Trailer Mechanic at Resource Transport plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the Company’s fleet. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks and trailers. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform thorough diagnostic tests and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components to maintain fleet performance and safety.
· Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance services to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
· Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage and work performed, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
· Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards, including DOT and EPA requirements.
· Assist in managing inventory levels of spare parts and order replacements as needed to minimize downtime.
· Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to share knowledge and best practices.
· Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide on-call support as necessary to keep the fleet operational.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certification in diesel mechanics preferred.
· Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles.
· Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical systems.
· Proficiency with diagnostic tools and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
· CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred but not required.
· Ability to follow all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards.
· Ability to understand and follow all work rules and follow directions from leadership.
· Ability to maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
· Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
