The Control Systems Engineer will act as the subject matter expert on end-to-end field technology.  The ideal candidate will be local to Odessa, have experience in programming and troubleshooting, installing various industrial control systems, with a focus on ABB Proflex and Yaskawa VFDs, Omron NX1P2 PLC, and Motion Controller, as well as familiarity with networking technologies.

 

Schedule:  Monday – Friday

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·       Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand process requirements and develop control strategies to meet operational goals.

·       Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, inspection, and optimization to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications.

·       Develop and maintain standards and documentation, including control system design specifications, functional descriptions, and operating procedures.

·       Collaborate with maintenance and field operations teams to diagnose and resolve control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient repairs.

·       Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes related to control systems, and proactively implement necessary changes to improve processes and ensure compliance.

·       Provide technical support and training to maintenance and field operations teams to ensure effective operation and troubleshooting of control systems.

·       Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to procure control system equipment, software, and services, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.

·       Provide on-call and escalation support for field electronics for issues exceeding abilities of the team.

 

Qualifications:

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred.

·       Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems

·       Experience with troubleshooting and installation tasks for low voltage (12-24VDC) and mid-voltage (240-480VAC) systems, including contactors, relays, and breakers.

·       Ability to program, install, and troubleshoot Omron NX1P2 PLC and Motion Controller within the Sysmac Studio environment.

·       Experience with programming, troubleshooting, and installing ABB Proflex VFDs and Yaskawa VFDs.

·       Proficiency in at least one programming language from C, C++, Java, or Python.

·       Knowledge of networking principles and experience with WAN and LAN configurations.

·       Experience with remote connection tools like OpenVPN, Ignition, or Snowflake.

·       Experience with groov Epic PLC and Node-Red or CODESYS is a plus.

·       Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and control system schematics.

·       Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve control system issues.

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

·       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

·       Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.

·       Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
